Hi everyone!
Im in a jeopardy Here.
First the specs-

MSI K8nGM2 FID board
AMD manchester 3800x2 Proc (Sockect 939)
4GB DDR 1 random access memory 400MHZ
1TB x2 HDDs in RAID 0 (NVRAID)
Sound & GFX is Onboard
LG Widescreen Monitor
550W ATRIX SMPS with Passive PFC

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

Suddenly yesterday, My perfectly working Personal computer South Korean won't start up. Whenever I press the power button, The Fans spin up a instant and Stop (whole PC stops). Nothing more. No more beeps, Nary errors. Hind end't symmetric get bios.

I have proven the following already-

Moral stuff with Shut air.
Remove MOBO and re-induct everything (Pound/CPU/HDD)
Remove entirely unncessary Comonents (Ram/HDD/Videodisk/Monitor/Kybd/Pussyfoot) and test boot
Try 3 SMPS (350W, 450W, 550W)
Re-implement thermal glue to Central processing unit, NB, SB and try.

Bushed a waste. Delight help.

A lot of times behavior like that indicates a short. Try disconnecting the cable for the power switch and embark on IT 'manually'.

Also, make sure wholly the screws holding the motherboard are secure and dead use, and slay anything (so much a a have it off) peal approximately 'tween the board and the noncurrent/side of the case.

Represent sure the cpu heatsink fan connexion is attached to the proper connector on the mobo.

Also try disconnecting every last the drives and leave just 1 stick of ram in there.
  • #5
Thanks for the replies,
I have taken atomic number 2 MOBO knocked out of the shell, and proven it raw (Exclusive CPU, 1 read/write memor Nothing else) and started it exploitation jumper. Same behavior. Heck! Even without the ram plugged in, its notwithstandin. Plank lost? CPU toast?

It is so rare that a CPU would go bad these days that I assume't even consider or exam it.

Sounds like the instrument panel went south. That stinks. The only control board I have had go forged on Pine Tree State personally was an MSI, and I never bought another unrivaled. I am not saying they make junk, conscionable put a unfit taste in my mouth.

OK.... I am going out on a arm here, but here's what I mean happened: Your motherboard's BIOS got corrupted.

The description you gave - and the troubleshooting - are a uncorrupted reproduction of the problems I encountered with an ECS MCP61PM motherboard, which uses the same chipset. In my case, the ONLY way this can be solved is by replacement the physical BIOS chip.

The good news is that you *might* be healthy to reflash the BIOS, if MSI is a better keep company than ECS and keeps their files available...

It's common for bad caps that are high along motherboards. If you'Ra up to changing caps, Hera is a link to a forum that describes how to fix the defective caps on boards from that (mid 2000s) era. This will require desoldering skills and equipment. I repaired a antithetic board using $20 worth of their parts.

thanks. real utilizable golf links. there are no visible gibbose caps. will still try out spending a few dollars on caps. because I love my system.
Did you try removing the CMOS assault and battery for cinque minutes?
yes. also pressed the reset switch a few times
OK.... I am going out on a limb here, but Here's what I think happened: Your motherboard's BIOS got debased.

The description you gave - and the troubleshooting - are a everlasting replica of the problems I encountered with an ECS MCP61PM motherboard, which uses the same chipset. In my case, the ONLY way this can be resolved is by replacing the sensual BIOS chip.

The angelic word is that you *might* be able-bodied to reflash the BIOS, if MSI is a better caller than ECS and keeps their files available...

that's pretty grim. msi didn't evening honour my warranty connected a graphics card way back. they don't pay much attention to India food market it seems.

single more thing, if I keep the atx 4 pin CPU connector unplugged , the scheme fans keep spining. of course information technology's useless but it shows in that respect's a problem in this area. the present moment I plug it in... unchanged old behavior. every bit if smps detects a insufficient and protection relay kicks in.

I'm wondering today if IT is the motherboard. If you could try and news bulletin the BIOS I would go that route earlier replacement the MB.
  • #13
I wonder how could be that done as board is not responding at all. I needs to boot somehow soh I can luff it to brassy utility, right?

or you bear or s trick?

  • #14
You could see if the board has a bios recovery pinny. If you put it in recovery usually you can boot up to flash.

hello everyone!
I've sent the circuit card to service center in far off city. the guy is doubtful about CPU and says that board is actually nongranular. in that case I'll have to buy a new system after every last :-(
I'm still waiting on reports of few more tests he is about to perform.
thanks.

p.s- thither's no bios recovery pinafore.

  • #17
I just called the service center and official that CPU is actually bad. Being a socket 939 setup it makes no more sense to invest in it anyways. what will be my options now?
Shall i start a new draw or go forward here?

You could always go to eBay. search for socket 939 and get a replacement Central processor for under $30.
  • #21
I bought a 939 x2 Opteron 180 on ebay not too long since for $25 roughly to use up an old socket 939 board as a waiter since I had a pile of DDR1 random access memory and an old dining table fabrication around. I was actually dumbstricken at the performance. It was on par with a similar Heart 2 Duo E6300 system of rules I had running. No more wonderment people liked those opterons back in the day.

Astir 3 months later the caps on the control board went invalid and the system of rules stopped posting.

I still have the chip. I was planning on using it to upgrade a relative's figurer but if you have trouble determination unrivalled LMK and I might constitute able to ship information technology to you.

  • #22
thanks for the offers and suggestion. shipping to India testament likely exceed the value of product itself. plus, in that respect seem to be stability issues in near future. whole system has outlasted it's designed life IT seems, following failure could blow up more stuff on!!
beingness 7 year old, I might as well climb anyways.
kindly hint a gaming PC configuration (india specific ) budget 30,000 rupees.
